An Immortal Sonnet

An Immortal Sonnet

A Poem by Jofer Serapio

I’ve been hurt before
So many bloody times
I’ve fought back
I fell back down

I’ve helped too many
Not one even remembers me
When I ask for help
They’d pretend to not hear me

Maybe I am insane
Maybe I am misanthropic
But I have reasons
My reasons are these scars

I’ve been left for dead
Told a lie by someone I really trust
Backstabbed by a close friend
Murdered by a lover

Abandoned by a relative
Treated like a stray dog
Pointed a gun at
Nearly killed

Still here I am
I stand before you
I will never back down
I will not just go away

I will never regret doing what I’ve done
I’ve seen death, you pale in comparison
I can’t be played, I’m three moves ahead of you
You can’t kill me, I’m already dead

My family, my clan
My real friends who really care about me
My sweetheart, my faith
These are the reasons I’m still here

I am what I am
