Early Birds

Early Birds

A Story by sutoraika
"

How long have I been up?

"

I hear the early birds call.

They are awake and so am I.

How long have I sat still

in the silver moonlight's glow

as it slowly faded to the morn

as the golden sun took

its place in the sky...

I've been waiting for too long,

but it does not allow me

to give up hope.

He will come home soon,

and I am half-convinced

that my long wait

will ensure his safe return.

They're awake, these early risers.

In a few moment's time, I'll be sleeping

hopefully, with him by my side.
