Change Box

Change Box

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

wooden box
shoe sized box
tannin oiled, golden hued
hand rubbed box its
sharp edges worn smooth
time and events
oils and pheromones preside over the
opening
honeycombed interlacings
all in nothing left
dripping
wet
tannin oiled, golden hewed
chiseled
never opened
it seems all those changes
flux identity in a
wooden box.

I could have pictured it quite well, even without the image ;)) .... Interesting how you describe and pay more attention to the box, never giving any details about the contents. Proves how even mundane objects can serve as artistic fodder! Nicely penned!

Please just keep Pandora away from the thing, we've got enough trouble. ;) I don't know that "change" is always "good" but I believe it is inevitable. I like the looks of the old box, a relic or an heirloom, perhaps. Your sensual write about its features almost gave it a personality of its own. I enjoyed the read.

'Change Box'
Einstein Noodle,
All I could think in reading this is life happens. It's real, it's real. Then one day the memories come back. Life lives on. Now I have just a few 'things' to show I lived up to now. Funny how that is. You made this point so well!
Blessings,
Kathy

the form of your poem is wonderful. the beginning without any spaces gives the illusion of speed and the pause sets the reader up for the heaviness of "death", even though it's not the first time death is mentioned.
i can see the box so clearly thanks to your descriptions and everything about it is so beautiful and a little bit mysterious at the same time!
enjoyed reading very much!

What a wonderful box full of life and events and the living of both. If there be a Pandora to open memory perhaps the same shall find hope at the bottom once again. A great write my friend. I enjoyed.

I think about Pandora's Box too, a box that it seems normal and ordinary for some, but for others like You, if You look closely enough, take Your time reading, grasping each important detail, how its it's done with fine sense and taste, it's a magical box, telling stories of ancient times, I believe this one to be special to You because I've seen through Your photos that You love wooden arts : )

Hhha! Yes I can be magical sometimes :)
The description of the box is phenomenal. If a metaphor to life, I would say it is a sad beauty sitting on a shelf, and a dreadful shame. If it is a possibility, then let it open and pour forth its hidden treasures, perhaps its beauty would increase, if that is possible based on the already perfect beauty you describe in this poem. Anyway, loved the read, cheers, my friend!

I'd like to think of it as Pandora's Box. Or a box that cures like a fine wine over time. But with time curiosity never changes. Leather will always smell like leather...I liked your use of wet. It made me think of skin pores, with all this oil seeping out from the Hyde. Turning itself into a tacky kind of leather. Maybe I have a thing for leather. Which I think you've already discovered. Remember those leather gloves?

Inhale...

Love it!
