Broken

Broken

A Poem by rachielle

She came into the world

So innocent, so pure

But she was discriminated

Insulted, tortured

No one knew this,

Of course

They never realized

All the pain they caused

She then grew up

And became rebellious

She was slapped, screamed at

“You’re ungrateful! You have no use!”

She then started to feel

How alone she was

Thinking what would happen

If she made a fuss

She wanted to know

If they will cry

Once they found out

That she’d already died

Will they be regretful

For hurting her

Or just ignore that tragedy,

The mistake that was her

A few days passed

Everything was just the same

She was still slapped and tortured

And was called ugly names

She could not bear the pain

To think they were her family

So she pursued her plan

Very discreetly

The wind was blowing

As if in sympathy

Everything was silent

As she laid there to bleed

Hi Rachielle! I like the fact that you used simple terms to express a feeling as complex as sadness. You're a gifted writer, keep writing!

Truly intense emotions put into words.
I'm fascinated by the shift of tone in the poem.

My favorite lines were:
She wanted to know
If they will cry
Once they found out
That she'd already died

The last stanza killed it for me.
Great write Rachielle.

Punishment

What a scary thought that there are
cases like this out there where kids
are being mistreated by their own family.
Great poem though even though it
has a sad tragedy.
Thanks for sharing.

Best wishes.
