European Robin

European Robin

A Poem by Julie Spade
"

"
Where do the robins go?

When it begins to rain or snow?

Do they sleep on a post light-

cuddling TIL it breaks night?

Do the robins cry when they are alone?

Praying to God to lead them home?

Are they fearful as they glide-

ever so beautifully in the morning sky?

The only words they know is Ciao, Adios, Sayonara, and Goodbye!

What are robins truly thankful for?

Could it be the crumbles we leave on the side of the porch?

Or the warmth of the evening torch?

Who do they musically appreciate as they soar?

Who do they cry to when in pain?

Crashing face first on a metallic chain?

Do they praise shelter, water or food?

Do they smile under a warm hood

Where do the robins go?

When a volcano suddenly blows?

I guess I’ll never truly know

what they are truly thankful for.
