The Heavenly man

The Heavenly man

A Poem by Rakesh Roushan
"

Humanity is so kind and so this man is....

"
Speak only as godlike of the man who feels another's pain

Who shares another's sorrow and pride does disdain

Who regards himself lowliest of the low

Speaks not a word of evil against anyone

Blessed is the mother who gave birth to such a son

Who looks upon everyone as his equal,

Lust he has renounced

Who honours women like he honours his mother

Whose tongue knows not the taste of falsehood

nor covets another's worldly goods

Who longs not for worldly wealth (or fame)

for he treads the path of renunciation

Ever on his lips is Ram's holy name

All places of pilgrimage are within him

He has conquered greed, is free of deceit, lust and anger

Through him Narsinh has godly vision

And his generation to come will attain salvation.

I have heard the original bhajan (it IS a bhajan, I guess) and it full of soul. Now I read this translation of yours and I think, you brought out the spirit of the original into your work as well. The use of font and the over-all wordplay was excellent. Loved it. Keep it up! :)

It's wonderful to find something, then work on it to be shared with the world so that the world will be moved by such inspiring works also.
This is definitely a piece of poetry which I can say is better for the eyes and both the mind. Not only does it come with the luxury of smooth style changes in font, but it also comes with the good morals which one should find themselves taking contemplation on. It's an excellent piece. Wonderful indeed.
Also, nice image choice, this is definitely Ghandi-like stuff, although Ghandi's life was more political motivated, but back with pure intentions and a calm mending hand towards humanity such as what's represented within this poem's messages on how man should be.

This is a very inspiring work. Thank you for sharing. You can feel the power in the words that you have written down. Meaning, within the different fonts of the puter generation, you are able to place a great deal more umph to the transcription you have done. (I think that came out right) Sorry, sometimes I am just at a loss for words or wording well, and this would be one of those times. Thank you for sharing this with us. :)
