Dooms day

Dooms day

A Poem by Glee

As much as you’ll not like to believe it

Does not make it any less true

Everything comes to an end some time

My triumphant days are over

My life comes tumbling down like a pack of cards

Like a pyramid scheme that stands on sandy ground

Quarrels with clients and suppliers

Lots of Disappointments and bad deals

One by one they walk away

From one cheque to another,

my account is depleted

My liquidity deeps

My heart skips

Projects fail

Plans backfire

Pegged to one place

I cannot even afford to move

Pangs of hunger hit home

Cries of illness echo through the walls

My wife gets tired

My children grow frail

What shall I do!

Services are shut down

Water taps run dry

Darkness takes over

Communication goes silent

I have tried everything

I fight for my son

I fight for what I believe in

What a difficult poem. So painful when things shift and change, the gods of fate leaving us barren after good times. All I can say is I wish there was a hopeful note somewhere in the words. Perhaps at the time of the writing it is yet to be discovered? I know through my own ups and downs that life goes on and can once again swing upwards, perhaps not in the same way, but in a new way. An articulate well written poem on the pain of "doomsday". Thank you for sharing my friend, cheers!
