My Reward

My Reward

A Poem by Mr Alednac

I could have done more,
you could have done more,
we could have done so much more,
but its not fair.

So much has changed since we last saw each other,
I'm still my selfish old self,
but I try to remember what you've taught me,
and try to be a better person.

I've taken up on some of your interests now,
and other interests of my own as well.
I wonder what would it be like
to have an intellectual conversation with you.

Instead of me being foolish and impatient
I would listen with great enthusiasm,
and talk about your interests that used to bore me to death,
and discuss what I've learned in college with pride.

This is my reward,
to have many things that were made possible by you,
but not having you in person experiencing this with me
makes my guilt much more stronger and unbearable...

I miss you Dad.

Losing someone is a pain that never fully goes away. This is very sad, but very good. Nice job.

It was sad to write it, but felt better after finishing it. Thank you for the review.
