the wonders of peat or how humic acid saved my social life

A Poem by recantichize

to the windebys, lindow, yde, bocksten, and all whose photos inspired this

bog people, rise up
from your thousands year exile.
reconstruct yourselves
 and recollect your minds.
remove now your sleep blinds,
and untie your nooses, like horrible cravats.
unstake yourselves and rise
free from your sphagnum mausoleums,
breathe humic no more.
welcome back to the land of the living.
redress yourselves rich
as once you were--perfect hair, plush mantel.
take pride, for millennia later
your beauty and position still hold,
a feat to which modern men still aspire.
then once you are splendid again,
let us sit together and laugh
at all of history and time
that you have, so elegantly poised,

Not only a fine write, but I really like the subject, the way you look at unusual subjects, this is the hallmark of a talented, interesting poet.

Lots of gusto in this poem. I like the emotion that it arises.. I'd only add a few more elements of anthropomorphism to this so that the reader can attach themselves to the time aspect of it... So that the final payoff of laughs and relaxation seem more in order.
i.e. May the Marsh melay and meddling meadows succumb to your robes
so that the grey of your hair can swing low.

But this is just my meandering thoughts and suggestions. overall this made me smile and remember the Carolina's for awhile.
