WORD PLAY

yesterday, I saw you as a metaphor,

wore you like a soft flannel shirt,

like alliteration scattered across the page.

today it’s more as allegory

whose sharp teeth shred

the intricacies of my heart

and similes fly south for the winter.

all I know for sure is

the only real illusion

can be found

in the word

L O V E.

Been wanting to comment on your comment for a few days now, but alas... anyway, thanks... I used illusion instead of delusion (although either is good) because I was going for illusion is from the beginning, it was never real.. a little different than delusion, as in something you do to yourself... but even across the border, love is, always will be illusion/delusion.. you can quote the redzone on this.. lol ;0) or perhaps, ;-p

Now this one says so much and says it so uniquely, Curt. When you can wear another person "like a soft flannel shirt" and be that comfortable around a person, everything is wonderful, but when the sharp teeth of allegory begin to shred your heart, well, then it's time to alliterate the heck out of there! Many are disillusioned by love and many are so starry eyed, they can not see what love really is. Your poetry is very special, my friend....I would love to be inside your brain to see where the inspiration comes from. Very "nice". :) Lydi**

aaah Lydi, you are more than welcome in my mind, not sure you would want to stay very long though.. its full of cobwebs and icky stuff.. but I think like you, mostly inspiration comes from living life.. the good, the bad, the ugly.. yep its a spaghetti western playing out in multi-colored rooms... and eaten with fingers only.. oh boy!!!
