Flight

Flight

A Poem by Penny Ellen
"

Sometimes, people are just damn poisonous to each other.

"

Run dry, why don’t you

Tell me how it feels

To keep on breaking wheels and cracking heels

Chasing expectations.

Run dry, so sweetly

In that summer rain

It’s very plain you’ve sown this pain

With you expectations.

And I will run dry

Tears, nothing more.

I have emptied out for you.

And should I hear you sigh,

I’ll go, somewhere far.

I have emptied out for you.

I will turn away from you.

Run fast, oh just to

Keep a pace with me

I cannot be free; you won’t have me flee

In my desperation.

Run out, feeling low

You put your hands around my throat,

Push me till I choke. Thoughts float

‘round to expiration.

Run down, I am

Run down, you are

Too strong, I am

Too drunk and…

And I will run dry

Tears, nothing more.

I have emptied out for you.

And should I hear you sigh,

I’ll go, somewhere far.

I have emptied out for you.

I will run away from you.
