G(u)ilt

G(u)ilt

A Poem by Penny Ellen
"

For the worst roommate I've ever had.

"

Frozen air, chilling to the eyes

Spilling hot tears.

Frozen. Still. Silent. Walk. Onward.

You will not remember me,

Enough time will pass

And I will be a detail glazed over in summation,

Caked over in artistic rendering.

And I wish

That I had been the type of girl

To take your world

Somewhere besides hell.

I am something shameful that always felt like more

Than you could handle

And I am nothing less than trouble

Attempting to straighten out.

Never thought that…

Never knew I’d hurt you.

Didn’t care at the time.

Should have.

Should have known.

Sorry.

Thank you

For the memories.
