a prayer for our brothers in freedom devastated in france

a city of light

traumatized and quieted

now whispers in dark.

This says it all about what happened in France. I imagine the following night being exactly like this. Quiet, with a heavy sense of horror in the air of what has happened, and of what is yet to come.

You're probably a little to young to remember that aftermath of 9/11, but that mass murder on live TV cast a pall over every US citizen. Disbelief, confusion, thoughts consumed. I remember that feeling well and I imagine the French people are feeling it too. Unbelievable tragedy. Thanks so much for the thoughtful review. take care...dan

I was actually 7 at the time and remember that day very well. I was at school and my teacher kept the tv on the whole day. I was surprised we stayed for the whole day. My parents glued to the tv with fear when I got home. True that is probably exactly how France was that day.

This worked well for me in your choice of style. I found the music to be distracting, but when turning it off or extremely low, and reading and rereading your haiku I found the rhythm. That being said, the words spoke volumes... simple. direct. powerful. I enjoy direct meaning in its simplest form. Nice job Dan. Long time no hear...

The darkness is more noticeable for the light that once shown. Do you think they are looking up at the sky and noticing that the stars are still there? Sometimes I feel like we are living in Old Testament times, but God did prevail in the end. May he always do so through the work of his people

I'm sure God has a plan but I don't know if circumstances will allow all involved to decipher it. France is now going through its own 9/11; they were standing with us then and we desperately need to stand with them now. Thank you for your review, Jan. take care...dan
