shocked

for violence

endless blood lust

shocked by a

nations complicit

ambivalent permission

shocked by

our lost humanity

shocked by

slaughter

shocked by

sin of

war.

Awed by capacity

to endure

awed by

faithful witness

drawing us back

to the

hopeful

call and

tiny whispers

that peace

will soon

prevail.

Blessed are the peacemakers.

They shall be called children of God.
