Sparrow Invader

Sparrow Invader

A Poem by matelotrod

            Sparrow Invader

I have a little sparrow who seems to have left the "Straight and Narrow"

He spends many hours wrecking all my flowers.

He is challenging my metal by destroying geranium buds and petals

He has been doing it each day for hours and hours.

I have decided that it must cease I will arrange his swift decease

It is my garden and I must show him who is boss

On second thoughts, I am not cruel I have been thinking like a fool

I would feel extremely guilty if I caused his loss.

A good idea has struck my mind, which will prevent me being unkind

I have thought of a way that will allow me not to kill

I need something to cause a fright so that he will swiftly take off in flight

What I need is a very active large windmill

I visited a local garden center spotted a windmill which caused me to enter

This would be exactly what I was looking for

I hurried home feeling I was winning, poked it in the ground and set it spinning

The cheeky Sparrow doesn't peck my flowers anymore.
