A Natural Wind

A Natural Wind

A Poem by Robert Ray

I am Mother Nature’s child.

I am the wind,

A breeze, warm and mild;

I am a gentle wind.

I am whimsical to the blind.

I am the wind,

A squall, destructive and unkind;

I am a wicked wind.

I am pure to the sagacious.

I am the wind,

A Polar Easterly, frigid and tenacious;

I am a genuine wind.

I am the Devil to the naïve.

I am the wind,

A Prevailing Westerly, I might deceive;

I am a whirlwind.

I am the Savior to a good captain and sailors.

I am the wind,

And, good fortune to ship raiders;

A Tropical Easterly, I might bring life or the end,

I am, to all--good and bad--a guiding wind.

I am Heaven and Hell’s wind.

I conform to nothing!

I am a foe and a friend.

I am a complex wind.

Very impressive. Being a patron practitioner of nature & environment poetry myself, I feel this is my favorite I've read so far in your library. Now it's in my own library.
Please continue, as I continue to dig further into your mastery.

Thank you, Andrew.
which way does the wind blow? and how hard?

yes, this is life---i like the allegory here---
we bend but don't break...we sway gently, peacefully...the weather and the wind...always changing course, and changing our course.

Thank you, sir.
Powerful write. Great personification, repetition for emphasis and metaphor in this poem. Lovely form, flow, strong cadence and imagery as well. The wind surely is “Mother Nature’s (wild) child”, dynamic and labile- as is life. “I am a complex wind”- yes! Well-done!
