MERMAIDS

MERMAIDS

A Poem by Marie
"

lIFE UNDER THE SEA...

"

Silver singing barely heard

Through the ocean’s roar:

Mermaids praise Diana

On a distant shore.

Past the crashing waves,

Under surf and foam,

In dark crystal caves

Mermaids make their home.

Queens of ancient legend

Set the waters free;

From their rocky thrones

Mermaids rule the sea.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Aye, I believe they do rule. If not rule, they certainly help control and patrol the deep, keeping careful watch over Davy Jones' locker. Though I never saw one during my time at sea, I did keep a keen eye out for one on more than one occasion while up on deck.
Solid write, Marie.

I do believe in mermaids yself, though I've never seen one...
Lovely poem. I might have thought Neptune but, Diana is a moon goddess. The moon and the ocean are certainly very connected so, Diana and the mermaids! Fun!

your rhythm and concise wording always floor me...sort of like an ocean floor, and all the words like fish that swim in such perfect formations.

The probable painting (could almost be a photo) is attractive and quite fascinating--since it appears to be saying "piece of tail." Rather fitting accompaniment--from my point of view--to a poem entitled "Mermaids."
Gorgeous work, by the way; radiating a haunting, siren-like aura.
Verbal art as enchanting as the lovely myths it portrays.

Well, that picture was just way too big to fit in here; I should never have used it.
