Lost Gardens

Lost Gardens

A Poem by Heather Clayton

I wait.
I keep waiting in the garden at midnight.
The moon flowers blooming around me.
I stand.
I keep standing to see what's below me.
The ground is rumbling, I'm alone.
I think.
I keep thinking how I wish I weren't alone.
The sky is hanging, like a dark-purple midnight.

I spot a flying camera in my direction.

I follow.
I keep following the camera to see where it goes.
The camera stops and takes a picture of me.

I take the photo from the camera.
On the back is written about me.

I wait. I stand. I think. I follow.

But there is only one of me.
I am lost in the garden of Eden.
But with this photo
I will leave,
I will leave it for those
who want to find me.
