Bystander

Bystander

A Poem by Roch Ketchum

I am just the innocent bystander,
that was privileged to witness your love story,
of how you fell in love with many,
of how you hated the one who loved you uncanny.

I am just the innocent bystander,
who saw you reject the many,
who saw you fall for him,
when he had stopped loving you, totally.

I am just the innocent bystander,
who read between the lines,
who felt every emotion of yours,
who sympathized with you all along.

I am just the innocent bystander,
who somewhere, along the line,
fell madly, deeply in love with you,
and couldn't do anything about it,
instead of whine.

I'm just the innocent bystander,
who gave you his heart,
who built dreams so big,
that were all crushed alas!

Oh, I'm just the innocent bystander,
not a part of your life, your story;
but happy enough to share a part of it,
and try to be content as I find and build my own life, bit by bit.

Very good flow of words. Had the feel of a song in the words.

I like the use of repetition and the above lines. In the end. We shall learn. We re alone. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I really do love the repetition used in this poem, you take bystander to a different meaning yet still iept the concept of a bystander. Again, well done.
