Do Not Forget

Move on, but not so far,
Run away, but turnaround,
For the memories paralyzed in time,
To which we are bound.

Like the wind and water,
creating and sculpturing mighty rocks,
Like a magnificent ship,
anchoring to a dock,
We are, but a muse to time,
Molded by the highs and lows,
Shaped by the glories and sorrows.

Rise up! Cut through the chaos,
Look deep beneath, deep within,
Slow down, breathe slow,
Rewind to those moments,
Oh, let them linger on.
For they pull as a magnet,
Whisper loud, "Do not forget".

Author's Note

It's said and rightly believed that life is all about moving on. At the same time, we often tend to overlook the fact that we as people are profoundly impacted by our past, and it is in fact some of these precious experiences that help us become the person we are. The poem "Do not Forget" is inspired by this thought and reaches out to people to take a step back and reflect upon those experiences and moments that have touched us at an intimate level.
