Hello Cat

Hello Cat

A Poem by Royden C

Hello, cat.

I see you

lying up there

in the back of the box.

Peering out the front

through half shut eyes,

just watching the bugs

and ants

and caterpillars

and occasional bird pecking by,

and you’re too lazy

to poke a paw out

and give them a fright.

I see you cat,

just lazing there

in your canvas play tunnel,

stretched out  on your back

with the back legs out one hole

and the front ones out another

watching the world upside down.

All the feet going past

both human and other

and you just lie there

in a summertime stupor.

You got a good life cat.

I just wish your box was bigger.
