That Will Be The Day

That Will Be The Day

A Poem by Rose of Gondor

I’m so tired of being here

Trapped behind these walls

Looking out the window

I cannot cry

And so I swallow the tears

Willing them not to fall

The sky is a grayish-white

The thick mass of clouds

Covering the sun

And yet I can still see the light

Ethereal and haunting

Fragile but strong

At the edge

Of darkness and shadow

And yet I know

It will not fail

I look

To the far end of the horizon

Where the ocean meets the sky

When darkness is overcome

I wish to bask in the sun

Where I long to be

Glad and free in the vast wilderness

Running, riding, laughing in those plains

Finally free

In body, spirit and mind

That will be the day

The angels return to earth

That will be the day when the walls will fail

That will be the day

When our fight is won

That will be the day

Author's Note

Rose of Gondor
Wow. Very, very Lord of the Rings-ish, I realize. But oh well, after watching Lord of the Rings AND Earthsea, all in one month, I don't think you can blame me for the stuff that springs out of my head. :)

Excellent, I like the theme of finding a beautiful day and your pen upon this piece.

I Love the LOTR books and movies. I have dug deep into them and read them several times. The one thing I haven't been able to do is capture the essence in my muse, so kudos!
