Aganist her will

Aganist her will

A Poem by rosemary keogh

She walked into the room,

Like a flower she was in bloom,

Golden hair and sparkling blue eyes,

lips the colour of berries from the wild.

Standing tall, she showed true grace and

this sweet girl she knew her place,

corset pulled in at the waist,

with a simple satin lace.

You could see it in her face, she had to put her feelings

second place. To please the people of her race,

They let her down with much disgrace.

She was sold to a rich man,

Who had many acres of land,

She was forced to take his hand

And she did not understand,

She was young and naive and she had to agree,

to the bear the children of this sleaze,

in her heart she wants to leave.

So many years go by she’s looking worn out by her voyage.

She’s worked so hard all her life, her children grown up

by her side.

Then the day it finally comes,

when her husband passes on.

She has mixed feeling, now he’s gone

But takes her children and moves on.

Moving stuff. And it still goes on with many an arranged marrige ruining many a life. But what you describe is more like slavery. How many millions of women have experienece exactly what you describe. Tis sad. You capture the whole experience in your write, which spans many years, decades even maybe. it's sad for the man that he is not mourned and sad for the children too in that they are the product of a less than ideal union. But the live on, hopefully in a better way.
