Recollections

A Poem by rosesofgrey

I remember the little girl I used to be

Brown hair, brown eyes, tall, skinny, average

Outgoing and far too intelligent for my own good

Unafraid of a world that I already knew to be corrupt

Tainted and eager to kill my little dreams

Trusting of everyone around me

Happy and bubbling over with energy

Ready to confront the world dead on

Scared only of the monsters in fairy tales

Pure and innocent in all senses

………………………..

I know myself now as well

Copper hair, green eyes, medium height and build, average

Painfully shy and too intelligent for my own good

Resigned to the corrupt world I’m a member of

Now that my little dreams have been killed

Knowing better than to trust those around me

Nervous and bubbling over with anxiety

Ready to hide from all the world

Scared of the monsters I’ve created

Used and marred in all senses
