The Tongue Twister

The Tongue Twister

A Poem by Rick Puetter
"

"It's a twister!" - For the "Twist it Twisted" contest

"

An ode in homage to the simple Tongue Twister that has brought joy and laughter to so many.  You'll find the words of six well-known Tongue Twisters among these lines.  May you enjoy them and remember the fun you had with them in times past.  - Rick

The Tongue Twister

When rubber buggy bumpers bump
When she sells all her seaside shells
Then lips long locked laugh lusciously
For frown from face falls finally

When pecks of pickles Peter picks
When woodchuck chucks the wood he could
Then thrice three times the tongue takes twist
And merry mirth marrow shan't miss!

For this diversion I do thank
The black boot brought by bootblack back
And fat frogs flying past so fast
For with a twister grief can’t last

Really enjoyed being reminded of those tongue twisters I had fun with when I was 'ickle'! Think you have nine here?

Beautifully put together and truly fun .. something that's often missing in poetry. Thank you, thank you for the smiles - and yes, I tried to say them!

(The illustration is ideal!)

This is equal parts playful, lighthearted, and really beautifully written. Enjoyed this read very much!

I must admit that there were two instances in which I wasn't able to get my tongue around the words when I read them aloud. But alas this is truly a good tongue twister and fun to read.

This is delightful! I had to learn all those damnable tongue twisters in speech therapy for the elocution section. You left out Damian Donovan's Dog, Dancing down the drive! And that big black bug who bit that big black bear! LOL

This was great! It brought a double-dose of humour: 1. reading the tongue twisters and messing them up and 2. remembering my childhood days of trying to say them.
