Meltdown

Meltdown

A Poem by runningturtle87
"

Dogmatic thinking leads us to eat out of a bowl.

"
Having pat answers

for the things

that confront us is a way

of putting off dealing

with our own interiority;

we simply put the hard things

in a box to get them

out of the way

so that we can go on

to the easy stuff,

and yet looming

in the back

of our hearts and minds

are these very disturbing

and dysfunctional parts

of ourselves

that we put off

until such time

as we can have

a proper meltdown

during a catastrophe

so we can finally

give ourselves permission

to talk about it openly,

usually at the top

of our lungs.
