MONUMENT MAKERS

MONUMENT MAKERS

A Poem by rutherford

MONUMENT MAKERS

Even though

it was forty-five years

since they made the last one.

The monument makers

said they could match

the size of my sister's tombstone

to the others on the family plot

Strange how time shrank

my first house

and the hill in my backyard

but the monument makers can

still make her tombstone the same size

as I remember the others.
