Junkyard Heart

Junkyard Heart

A Poem by Zach Colgate
"

Lyrics written about shame.

"

(Verse 1)

He bit his tongue to hide his soul

From all the prying eyes

He kept it in, all the sin

And he falls apart

(Verse 2)

He hid his bottles in the snow

As white as all the lies

Those heavy stones; they spare the bones

But break the heart

(Chorus 1)

The shadows hide from the light

And guilt keeps mouths closed tight

Don't give up yet

He'll come around

Don't give up yet

He might be found

(Verse 3)

He can't wash it all away

Or shoo off all the flies

Can't take his soul and make it whole

Like from the start

(Chorus 2)

The shadows don't mix with the light

And shame buries hearts out of sight

Just walk away

He's too far gone

Just walk away

Keep moving on

I liked thias song. Any melody would fit these lyrics well.

"He hid his bottles in the snow//As white as all the lies." Very good lyrics. Good use of imagery and they just flow together really well. I like the light rhyme throughout the song, it's not too much to make me roll my eyes. The ending is pretty sad...but I love songs/poems/stories that leave you a little depressed. :)

Kick butt song. I like it. My favorite lines:

"Those heavy stones; they spare the bones

But break the heart"

That was great. Wonder how it sounds with music? Kudos.
