Old Tara's Lament

A Poem by Susan S.
"
Tara was the seat of high kings and the center of government of all of Ireland for 4,000 years. Now the Irish government has decided it needs a roadway worse than it needs to skirt Tara and nothing the rest of the world says holds weight. Not even UN!
"

To walk the halls of old Ireland
To meet the firbolg and unselee
What a magical treat that would be

But Tara is destined to fall to men
With earth movers, tarmac and politics
And damned be the lament of hicks

It seems 4k years doesn’t carry the weight
Of cars and drivers with attitude
Old Tara is lost to the crude.

Author's Note

This is a real and current problem. We are about to loose 4,000 years of Irish history to a ribbon of tarmac.
