Dungeon of Dependence

Dungeon of Dependence

A Poem by Sadani Atapattu
"

Being dependent on others can sometimes put you in further trouble. This poem is about a person who had to depend on others and had to give up her life's freedom in return.

"

Behind the bars I wait

To open freedom gate

Building up a way of wealth

The sole key to independence

Amidst heeding advice

Of those I rely on till then

Bearing what I like or not

Whilst being used in harsh ways

Here I cannot deny

As I depend on them so much

For food, shelter, money and more

On the verge of take off

To open my wings in my dreams

Hoping serene in latter life

Yet if they say to cease

Even to do what I averse

 Have no choice

Since I owe them so much

Dependence now a debt

Life again a dungeon

wonderful poem wow, penned it nicely ''since I owe them so much
dependence now a debt
life again a dungeon". so true, most of the times people who are there at times when we are in need become slave masters as they want to remind us all the time how we owe them our happiness.

I like the concept of "Dungeon of Dependence" and am glad you followed through by including those words at the end.

freedom should be freedom's
Amidst and Whilst and latter felt out of place and distracted me.
