Wounded Generations

Wounded Generations

A Poem by Sami Khalil

Wounded

Generations/

By Sami Khalil

Every wounded generation leaves its vestiges. Philosophical write.

What is your take on nations and generations???

Note: This poem is on your inheritance and heritage and how some appreciate, preserve, pass down and some waste them and never plan for other generations.

The Poem:

It takes a diligent generation to toil in sweat and blood planting the seed of trees where nature can flourish, partaken in sunshine and peace.

It takes an expedient generation to eat and enjoy the fruits of others bounteous gifts without indebtedness or sharing the merits of life’s offerings.

It takes a scarlet generation to cut down the trees and burn them in the pyres of pitiful ignorance without planting for new cycles of life or the foreseen future.

So do, in a tragic sense, many nations perish… Leaving their own vestiges!

By the sword and starvation….In flecks of famished dramas and lamentations…of the accused and the accuser.

Around here so many are on welfare and kids in foster homes it makes me wonder why aren't the grown ups working, paying bills, raising a healthy family, leaving something for the next generation like our forefathers and we did! Valentine

What you said is true: it is painful for the one who has planted to see the passerby merely picking his fruit, eating it, then what's even worse, littering the streets of heritage. Sometimes I think, and I find that such matters return to God, for some parents try their best to raise a fruitful generation, but the children don't seem to grow as the nurturer had planned. Thank you Sami. It is some good food for thought. You've got the deepest stash for me to dig in ;)

Proclaims an unpleasant truth--beautifully and poetically, as usual.
I fear it will always be the few who devote their lives to doing the hard, necessary work the rest of us blissfully ignore.
Admirable offering, Sami!

Incredibly powerful write. That last line, especially, is very impactful. Would that more of humanity got it: what we do today lays the foundations of tomorrow… or destroys them.

That is certainly something to ponder on, where I live they are expanding shopping centres knocking buildings down and parks. It is sad. I like your thought provoking piece for us all to sit and ponder about.

As always, you've got the words to express some very serious thoughts and paint them clearly in our heads. And those are nice pictures to express what you mean, too. Another great write from you, Sami! :)
