Perched/……………..BY Sami Khalil

Perched to fly off into the unknown…A romance poem.

The Poem:

The wind stops its whips

The rain halts its drips

The candle burns its tips

The ocean idles its ships

Death tightens its grips

Luck plays its many chips

The joker shares his quips

A lady shows off her hips

The traveler longs for trips

A trace is found on blips

My name perches sadly

on your lethargic lips!

oh now come on who could say Sami without a smile? but I must admit, there are some days when everything seems so huge, and others when it is weightless, I guess one takes the good days with the bad, but it is spring! I smell it in the air!

I think this poem is wonderful and carefree in its style but really shows how we can be so carefree until realization hits, just like your poem does. interesting...

dear Sami... I adore the colorful art
of winged hope. Your poem offers many
sips of life's pleasures and measures of
nature at her bidding. Your talent is
truly tantalizing. As ever... Pat

The continuous use of end rhyme really unifies this piece. Its simplicity is its strength. :)

A good poem Sami :) I certainly appreciated its form, and the deviates from our anticipation, giving it a bitter-sweet after-taste and a linger of thought.

Fine work :)

I really loved this poem; alliteration is kinda my soft spot like this poem now, I just like the way it clearly and succinctly communicates.

Maybe I'm soft but that was rather sweet. (As I still try to sound like that did not affect me ha) tender and lighter than light. I enjoyed
