Perception

Perception/……………By Sami Khalil

It is not all in the perception and projection. It is in the insight of things.See the big picture and not just the small one...Very important and necessary…A philosophy writes.

The Poem:

That which surrounds me…in all its rugged truths

That which thrives around…in the seen and the unseen

I awake! Like all the tattered souls…?

To higher orders- lower ones

To extraordinary things- ordinary ones

To natural beauties- man-made ones

To objective matters- subjective ones

Even to perfect (sunrises, sunsets) - imperfect ones

Not restless, but under the madness of deflowered thoughts

of perception, searching for raw meanings and lines between

space and time.

For it is not all in the perception and projection

When minds dance in the wondering of,

Actions and reactions,

Plain sights and hind-sights. It is in the discernment of things.

And for that matter, perceptions require fairness and more than single traces,

in the surrender of concern and confusion.

What you see is not what you get; it is what you perceive, beyond...

And have a proper "conception" of,

The visible realms and the invisible ones.

Then…I awake! To that which surrounds me?

Perception is both a blessing and a curse these days. We often see things as we wish them to be then get upset when it is not as we imagined yet attribute it to what we saw. Maybe this is why I'm on such a honesty kick with many people now - you want to know what I am thinking about something, ask me.

As always, wonderful reading your works Sami.

my mom was big on perceptions and appearances...but i learned that often the outward part of us that is perceived is often far different from the inside part of us that often others never bother to get to know.

it's like that sometimes, unfortunate as is...
this is a really thoughtful write.

Straight from Plato - the shadows dance on the walls of the cave - make as much sense now as when we first saw them. This struggle for sense here - I like this the conundrum of what is and the question of its isness.

You have written in rich metaphor, the age old question what is real and what isn't. And can we human know the difference???? While a truly epic philosophical question it has also found its way into the psychology of human thought as well as activity... written and discussed from the times of Homer, Spinoza and Freud, from Shakespeare to Henry James, and Leonard Cohen...

What your poem brought to my mind is that there is real (reality/truth) independent of our perceptions, or our acceptance of this. I enjoyed how you showed the contradictoriness of reality and even perceptions... thanks Sami for the trip down psychological philosophy... heady stuff and now I need a nap... ha! ~~redzone

Perception is bigger than the iceberg which caused to sink Titanic, only portion of an object seen at one point, or seen every time you look, but at times inner eye can help you to get some more of the individual or situation, also stereotyped eye is a real villain to perceive things falsely, favoritism and inclination may skew things around when you perceive, any how very thought provoking poem, congrats mississippe
