Perception

Perception/……………By Sami Khalil

It is not all in the perception and projection. It is in the insight of things.See the big picture and not just the small one...Very important and necessary…A philosophy writes.

The Poem:

That which surrounds me…in all its rugged truths

That which thrives around…in the seen and the unseen

I awake! Like all the tattered souls…?

To higher orders- lower ones

To extraordinary things- ordinary ones

To natural beauties- man-made ones

To objective matters- subjective ones

Even to perfect (sunrises, sunsets) - imperfect ones

Not restless, but under the madness of deflowered thoughts

of perception, searching for raw meanings and lines between

space and time.

For it is not all in the perception and projection

When minds dance in the wondering of,

Actions and reactions,

Plain sights and hind-sights. It is in the discernment of things.

And for that matter, perceptions require fairness and more than single traces,

in the surrender of concern and confusion.

What you see is not what you get; it is what you perceive, beyond...

And have a proper "conception" of,

The visible realms and the invisible ones.

Then…I awake! To that which surrounds me?

Perception is both a blessing and a curse these days. We often see things as we wish them to be then get upset when it is not as we imagined yet attribute it to what we saw. Maybe this is why I'm on such a honesty kick with many people now - you want to know what I am thinking about something, ask me.

As always, wonderful reading your works Sami.

This poem reminds me of how our perceptive faculties react to Rorschach ink blot tests. What we really see when we look outward is our inward mapping of Reality. Our brain always connects empirical dots in a way that represents events that we’re familiar with as apposed to what‘s really before us. We are conscious of our mapping of Reality, and not Reality in itself which is a whole other thing. This is more like a psychological poem than a philosophical one. The only thing that we’re absolutely sure of is how we feel; moods require no mappings. We look in when we look out.
