BirdBath

A Poem by Sami Khalil
"

Perhaps life is like that...Little philosophy or observation about life...

"

BirdBath/………………………………By Sami Khalil

Perhaps life is like that…Little philosophy.

                                   The Poem:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps, life is like a decorative birdbath and a kitten in an urban jungle.

A small oasis in a parched desert with beauty and fright. “Aha” moments with ups and downs.

Street smarts with successes and failures, pains and gains.

Perhaps, life is our feathered dreams and reflections or scary nightmares , as we flutter around

still points, scamper about wry antics and distill moments of ecstatic baptisms.

Perhaps, we could be the victim and the victimizer;

Able hunters in different colors and shapes, sharing relentless pursuits.

Perhaps in our inner beings, we ought to be...Eased into dawns, blessed by shadows, perceived in verses and portrayed through binoculars.

Moments before, we lose ourselves.

Moments later, we find both; standing still between charted temperaments, judging us by character and consequence.

Moments in between, we behold the landscape, which spreads out hazily

Like moonlight on water, where light dashes across places of gilded encounters and goads.

In life though, the body is the first to go, but the heart remains in the starring role.

Our first bedtime is the womb. The last one is the grave. Then, we all awaken upon a new country blind not to itself where the past wind can still spread myths.

Such is life…A refreshing lesson, while we bathe in the rain as the sun watches from behind clouds under a gentle canopy. Perhaps!

there is something so innocent, frivolous and joyful as watching a bird bathing .. they seem to enjoy it so much! and something so pathetic, fearful and in dire need as a kitten in an urban jungle ... so many musings in between .. i especially am drawn to your second to last verse .. i think it is a fine meditation ..a soul searching time ;) unique fun with font sir! :)

This a beautiful poem! Thought provoking and very refreshing to read .... because it stands out as different from a lot of poetry I read. I think it would sound really good as spoken word poetry. Life is definitely up and down and unexpected turnings! And I wonder (as I'm sure many do) what is the purpose of it all - a lesson perhaps? At least, I hope there is a purpose. I'd hate to think all those downs were for nothing at all. Thanks for enlightening my day with your enchanting poetry Sami!

Some of us view the world through rose tinted glasses and accept that that's how the world is supposed to be.....yet.. you allow me to view the world so differently... every time I read your eloquently written words.

Very interesting and philosophical view on life and death and the in-betweens. And I like the simile birdbath being life.

I love where your writing takes me in this Sami - I wasnt here when it was rolled out in July but its still fresh and I suspect will be for a 'priitttty' long time.

The idea of victim and victimiser is very deep.
Bravo Sami - your birdbath is a seer's bowl I think
