Concordia/By Sami Khalil

The migrant crises!

That same winter,

I had gardened faces when earth was strange,

Lacking Concordia and soft spots of the heart.

That same winter,

An Arcadian sun crossed our barb wired orchards,

Drowning the traces of refugees.

Who, in the quiet moments of apparitions,

When phantoms had lain in wait,

Lived not the daily verses of struggle or

The geography of unsettled borders?

Who remembers not?

Wars, incidents, accidents…Or the art of survival,

When life curiously lingers in death

And love is no more.

That hot summer,

I patterned names in hesitations,

Leaving the introduction of crimson voices to the dying legends.

That hot summer,

When those boats sank helplessly,

So much as our conjugated humanity.

Just as before!

You are welcome :)
I avoid writing too much about the current political happenings as I tend to be very passionate and can overstep.
Here, you have tenderly touched the collective consciousness.
People are suffering in a bad way. We cannot ignore it... Would we stand and let a person drown in front of our eyes? Does turning around so we do not see them make it any more morally acceptable?
You are a brave and kind soul to write this. Well done!

a compassionate poem from a compassionate poet... Sami, your poem is quite wonderful, beautiful, perhaps more so since the subject you write on is neither... what in the hell (and this is what this is hell) are we doing to each other in some god's name or our names, or for empire and control... we must end this madness Sami, before we are all refugees or humanity is no more...

it is also a brave write Sami since many poets take sides and so both sides are strengthened and this hell continues, as here you speak as a human to humanity, thank you..

Wow. Thank you so much beloved poet for this wonderful review and caring. Take care....:).....
Life, itself, frequently seems like a sinking boat.
Intense need and painful desperation were, tragically, snuffed out. Would loving fellow humans have ministered to that need, soothed the desperation? Isn't it pretty to think so?
Our own boat, I fear, now takes on more water.

All appreciated. Thank you kindly. ...:)......
My hottest..dryest of times i did not know the wretch and heartahe that some of the world merely wants to survive through daily.
I have faced times of mere survival..cannot imagine it constant..and how it doesnt break a human into pieces of madness.

Thought inducing write..

Love and wishes of peace time.
