Vapid

Vapid

A Poem by Sami Khalil
"

Be inspired and inspiring to others. It will change your world and theirs...

"

Vapid/By Sami Khalil

Some offer nothing that is stimulating or challenging while others are inspiring in so many ways…

The wind stretches

The songs and fragrances

And there you are

Burdened by senses.

The wind stretches

The waves and tempests

And there you are

Tossed by crashes.

The wind stretches

Shapes and illusions

And there you are

Writhe in thoughts.

The wind owns its place and power

And you own the earth and science.

Then, why are you?

Utterly vapid!

Excellent write...
It is true we become our own worst enemy, bogged down by the world around us, we lose our inspiration thru discouragements and burdens..............thank God for poetry and friends

Great expression of the fact that we become time to time vapid being blinded by our own senses.

I like this more straightforward message, thought-provoking, & well-stated with effective & graceful metaphorical imagery. (I read a few of your more cryptic poems, & I confess, I'm just not equal to the task of reviewing such nuanced poetry!) What I'm reading here reminds me of the difference between those who write a description of all their woes, as compared to those who write a poem/story of woes which shows us some lesson or realization gained. Let's face it, life is tough for everyone, but I've only become a better person thru turning hardships into victories. Your poem is a challenge to those who let life toss them around.

I like the language you used and the repetition of winds contrasting with the airy word vapid.

A dear Sami, a lovely poem close to my
heart where I live by the Rappahannock River
in Fredericksburg, Virginia... and there your are
in the wind and Rapids... Amen
