Vapid

Vapid

A Poem by Sami Khalil
"

Be inspired and inspiring to others. It will change your world and theirs...

"

Vapid/By Sami Khalil

Some offer nothing that is stimulating or challenging while others are inspiring in so many ways…

The wind stretches

The songs and fragrances

And there you are

Burdened by senses.

The wind stretches

The waves and tempests

And there you are

Tossed by crashes.

The wind stretches

Shapes and illusions

And there you are

Writhe in thoughts.

The wind owns its place and power

And you own the earth and science.

Then, why are you?

Utterly vapid!

I like the repeating first lines and then the change in the first line of the forth stanza. Can I say that I am blown away by the wind? And then the last two lines sting! Very effective. Thanks for sharing your piece.

This is a strong write from you Sami. It is filled with passion and wisdom and is of the calibre I have come to expect and know from your pen. Some people write because they have to say something - others write because they have something to say. You my friend of a long time now, are of the latter ilk. God Bless you.

BAM!!! This poem is a much-needed kick to the face of all the ridiculous materialism that has blinded the general scope of humanity to the wonders and the people around them!

There is so much to behold, to wonder about, to enjoy, in nature and in life. We are accosted by new fragrances, new illusions and new waves and tempest, yet we are so lost in the mundane, we fail to appreciate, to discover and remain utterly vapid. You are superb with your words. The poem is an exquisitely crafted piece of art, as all your amazing poems are. My compliments, Sami.

It's amazing how often the important things escape us, like trying to catch the breeze with your hands. Your poem does a good job illustrating this important concept in life and hints at the consequences. Great work :)

I guess sometimes we don't have anything to offer. I like how you kept referring to wind because I happen to use that word quite a bit as well as breeze. It may sound crazy but things speak in a wind . People just don't slow down enough to hear. Great work Sami:)

Interesting perspective. i picked this one because I love the word vapid. It carries so much weight, yet is so curt and simple. I might say "writhing in thoughts" or rife with thoughts, but, it probably has a metre /count reason behind it. Glad to read you again.

Awesome piece, bro. Thought provoking... seems to speak of missing some sort of wonderment that exists around someone by holding on to turmoil, and also missing their own magnificence in the same instance. Gonna read this one several times over, I'm sure I'll take something else from it as well. Applause goes to you here!
