Heroes

Heroes

A Poem by Sami Khalil
"

The unsung heroes in many fields of life and not necessarily wars...

"

Heroes……………………By Sami Khalil

Those who fight the good fight…

By days’ wages whilst minds hearkening back

Neither a galling delay nor time’s pallid track

Upon plaintive measures and bequeathed fields

I fancied heroes of yore, ere impetuous yields.

Not long ago in the parlance of toilers forgone

Hither and yon, unbidden mirth’s nary to pawn

Thus hearts doth rest in peace I solemnly believe

In spirit flow, bide rollicking apart worldly heave.

But rejoice and grieve durst in our sodden ways

Memories dredge up victories betwixt our gaze

Wherewith freedom mantles hath fulsome courage

And fair of binders waxes bereft hopes to flourish.

By days’ wages and bevy of wealth many untold

I fancied heroes of yore, gazing at morns unfold.

There have been countless heroic unknowns who lived and loved; fought and died, with incredible bravery.
They are worthy of our respectful--indeed, affectionate--recollection.
Thank you, Sami, for so eloquently reminding us!

You are a Genius, Sir and I mean it. What a wonderful way to use the language! Great great piece of poetry...A beautiful tribute to those many unsung heroes whose existence faded with time. There is so much to learn from them.
Kudos to you :-)

I firmly believe, (and I mean this as a compliment) that you were born two centuries too late. Your work has all the superb language use of the romantic era. This is no exception. Well written.

Wow. I love your grasp of the language here. I could almost hear drums beat while I read this, as if it should be put to music.

Sonnet word freedom, transports the reader to another place and time. I can see knights fighting for their queen in these words. Skillfully crafted work Sami!

Days of yore are immersed in heroes, from those who fought so bravely against tyranny, to the proud mother filled with maternal love for her babe in arms!

Yes indeed Sami, let us be cognisant and take heart from the power of the human spirit down through the ages !
