Pastiche And Parody

Pastiche And Parody

A Poem by Sami Khalil
"

The cycles and seasons...Can you imitate Nature or understand the cycles...

"

Pastiche And Parody/By Sami Khalil

Death and rebirth of nature’s own

Let me herald or cast sublime, new beginnings

When nature is branded in her refined fashion

And no somber faces, sulking, are taken aback

Mourning demises that lie in stillness of shrouds

Lending miracles, lingering in diaphanous passion.

Let my refuge be anchored in frilled derangements

Setting scenes of recalls and gnarled mind-escapes

Beseech I to reflect on paths drawn in swirling haze

By interlaced summits and lush, felicitous pastures

Stippled not by man, but hands of a benign action.

For, slowly they burst

Into peals of laughter and abundant life

Spring gentle and Summer's insouciance forged

Cicatrices weathered and windblown fast.

And, slowly they perish

With rictus grins and megrims of death pleas

Tatterdemalion of Fall and gelid Winter’s eddies

Pastiche and parody of pert notions past.

the constant renewal of man and nature. inseparable by design. acting and interacting. that miracle of nature setting the pace and leading. very skillful, intricate knitting. i can feel the breeze, breathe the fragrant air, and relish the thoughts it stirs in the soul. nature's undeniable truth amidst man's folly. delightful.

Every so often your writing reminds me of ancient illuminated manuscripts.. and this is an example. Thesaurus now returned to its shelf (!) I have to say that your last verse has taken me five minutes to explore! Plus, that painting is ideal for your rich extravagance of words, Sami.

this is a wonderfully presented poem Sami on the splendid seasons mother nature offers to us. this is so old and worldly and peaceful like the picture depicts such serenity. well done and told in a "Kingly" kind of fashion!

I sit here smiling at the fact that I probably didn't know a dozen words... seriously, and I have a pretty good vocabulary, was an educator, and have been writing for 50 years...No exaggeration...and yet...I thought this write was wonderfully passionate and beautifully crafted. I promise I will look up several if not all of the words that were lost on me, but rest assured the poem was not. Terrific write Sami, but don't forget... you can't lose the readers along your journey.

PHENOMENAL! This is going to straight to my favorites. Your language and cadence is simply delicious. Massive bonus points for using my all time favorite word - diaphanous!!!! You speak my language and thereby, speak straight to places in my heart and soul that most writing never reaches.

"Let my refuge be anchored in frilled derangements

Setting scenes of recalls and gnarled mind-escapes"

Such deep truth in these lines - all that the seasons conjure within us, memories, fears, regrets, happiness, all without intention - by simply being. Truly we are the masters of pastiche and parody of seasons that care not one wit for our silly hearts and memories. They truly are the benign.

I have read this five times and will going back for more, cracking open new meaning with every word.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this amazing piece.
