Brave It…                      Sami Khalil

I braved wars, rains and high seas

The Western and Eastern fronts

Language barriers

The veils that cloud many moons

The heart quivers,

Awakening at night

The speed of sound,

The light of reason

Questions and exclamation marks

Responses and rejections

The casual, the formal

The radiance of your star

The endless search

Between…

Cradles and graves

I braved

loving you!

You certainly are one of the most talented writers here Sami. I like this and I'm glad to see you still contribute here at the cafe. Though I might not always review, I do read and find you entertaining as well as interesting. :)

I thank you so much Pia from the bottom of my heart.
If I may make so bold, there is a maturity evident in your writing. If that doesn't sound too holier than thou.

Not at all. Thank you so much Ken for all your inspiration and encouragement. Truly appreciated.
it does take courage eh!? and only each of us can answer how ell worth it it is/was ;)
I say keep going for it!! love shared is all we really have after all .. the middle of your poem started me thinking of PTSD ... and how that can awaken the bravest heart with terrors ... God blesses us with one to hold tight to says i!

Thank you so much Einstein for the time and visit.
This made me smile ... loving her as courageous as braving wars, rains and high seas? Or was the 'radiance of your star', something more spiritual?
Anyway your poem, simpler than your usual ones, I thought, was very beautiful.

Enthralling--both image and poem.

Exceptional work!

Thank you so much for the lovely visit and response.
This love letter is not sweet, not saccharine - but passionate and declares the writer's willingness to persevere through it all for the object of this devotion. Well said.

I'm honored by your visit and thankful.
dear Sami... to Brave the radiance of another's star is dazzling, but worth the quest. The endless search between cradle and grave. I love the words, "And when I grow too old to dream, I'll have you to remember!". It is very Brave to love.... it takes every virtue and more to love purely. It is a great lesson in giving...
Your poetry shows the depth of your enduring wars, rains and high seas, as well as the veils that cloud many moons. "The heart quivers...
the light of reason". So much said with few words. Truly a gem. Pat
