Winter’s Ballad

                         By Sami Khalil

Carried away-by old songs,

Safe from wind and tides.

My space had become; a society of lost whispers.

Fabric of my being; a meadow of fabled memories.

Ever present, page after page,

Bare desires had an artistic flare,

Parting plays of single heartaches,

Breathing the passions of nights oblivion.

I left some doors ajar, to grab the sighs of nature’s ballads…

Beyond the veils, life smiled with daring faces; white teeth of reality.

Dreams whistled a tune, along the path of prismatic stars.

Beyond kisses soft, beams left evidences of traceable love,

Where embers lingered in the stray moments,

Painted, teased, burned and kept in the lockets of the now and forevermore.

Carried away-by old songs,

Safe from wind and tides,

lying in the fox’s position to keep me warm,

Silence, in rainbow colors, was left dormant!

Snow had covered the ground.

Your poem describes so many of my favorite things about "going dormant" in winter! With constant all-over pain, I do less physical stuff when my body never warms up. So I do more reading & writing & other creative endeavors to pass the hours & forget the pain. Your message could also apply to how it can be when we are in the winter of life. We can moan about all the things we no longer have, or we can celebrate slowing down so we can see all that we never noticed before! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

So many unique lines and such a beautiful flow of thoughts here.

I was carried away by your words and the painting is a quite lovely match.

Beccy.

PS. Haven't been around much of late; hoping to remedy that now.

Glad you enjoyed this humble write. Enjoy your winter. Many thank yous.
I can smell the fireplace at my grandparents house in the mountains where I used to spend the winter breaks as a kid. I can feel time and life experience here and a kind of nostalgia for things past. Not easy to encapsulate that in words but it works well. Very nice.
