Work towards what you want

Work towards what you want

A Poem by Samantha Tamburello
"

How I feel in a deep metaphorical way. I can't get to where I need to be, everything is so complicated...

"

There I stood before a foggy path, and thought about how long it took to get here.

Why would I travel so far to be stopped by an obstructed view?

Had I known the dew of winter had still lurked in the grass I'd stay in bed,

dreaming of the sunny path I'd seen every night in my dreams.

Waited, waited, waited hoping to crystallize all I find good in this world.

Wishing to turn a simple dream of a young girl into a reality I could take for granted.

Praying to see the light guiding me towards a goal set in stone,

but covered in dust.

How is it that I had gotten so far just to see how far I really am?

Tonight I will see the path under a bright sun, blocked only by the fears I might have.

But when I wake up and am sure of what I want, the fog is waiting for me,

to show me nothing is ever handed to you and clearing the fog is a

lifetime of building the strength.

Author's Note

Samantha Tamburello
I believe this is not one of my best works, but I came up with this in about 15 minutes on a day when I was just really confused because of people at school telling me I have to work harder if I want to be somebody, and my guidance counselor shattering my dream and distancing me from what I really wanted all through my high school career.

Samantha, you are young and have a lifetime ahead of you. When I was about your age I had to start a new life in a new country and be the head of the household. I was always employed and found extra time to paint; later on I realized that I had a new career in front of me that would deprive me of my passion - being a visual artist. So I had to quickly forget about painting since I had a lot of evening studying to do. Before retirement age I decided to start a business so I quit my job and moved on. By then I was financially able to follow my new passion. Work hard, study a lot but live a day at a time. You may have to give up something temporarily to insure your future. Our "passions" do not always provide financial security; therefore, you must decide what's important to you and if you can afford to make certain decisions.
As to your writing, you are reaching out since it appears you need some guidance. You can be all you can be if only you let your head dictate and not follow your heart impulses. Keep writing and put everything in perspective. Once you do that, you will see the fog disappear. You can do it. Best of luck!
