But Sunshine Is Fading

But Sunshine Is Fading

A Poem by Chris G. Vaillancourt

"But sunshine is fading", observed
the man to his friend. "It comes and goes
and comes and goes again!."

The men sat like nails
posted on a bulletin board.
Stiff and narrow
were both their views.

"Well of course the glass
is half empty." the friend replied
in return. "It's fools and
poets that think it's half full."

"Agreed", said the man.
"I believe there is only one
solution!", he added.

The two men stood up
in harmonized thinking.

With smiles and moonlight
as their only guide,
they found their way
to the bedrooms of
the people they loved.

"It will be such a delight
to watch all of you die" they sang.

Nice poem. Funny and enigmatic. Loved this stanza:

The men sat like nails
posted on a bulletin board.
Stiff and narrow
were both their views.

There's a Waiting-for-Godot quality to this.
