You can be a shadow if you want to. A dark shape that flickers like a candle flame. A moth burns itself slowly in the flickering fire. It did not intend to do so. It was attracted to the light. Foolishly it entered the flame to find its death. It burned in a brief flash of misunderstanding. So, you can be a shadow if you want to. You can bury your emotions in the darkness of whatever shape you pretend to be. It is better to be this way. For if you became as brilliant as the light of the sun, I might find myself attracted to you. That would be dangerous. Experience has taught me that you would burn my devotion like a moth in a candle flame. Stay a shadow. That way I can close my eyes and imagine you are not nearby.
reminds me of a song by Jimmy Wayne, "Stay Gone" --a shadow already known but at a safe distance.*
Isn't it true, the epitaph for many bugs drawn to light or windshield: a brief flash of misunderstanding.
even the birds hit the glass mid flight, misunderstanding.
i once had a cat, who didn't understand the sliding glass door was closed, it was normally opened. Until one day, he rushed forward to get inside--and suffered the reality check. He learned not to leap, but caution.
paired away, i skipped over:
to find its death. It burned; That would be dangerous.
