Morning Smiles

Morning Smiles

A Poem by Chris G. Vaillancourt

I left a smile
On your pillow this morning.
Did you feel it?
It kissed the smiles in your hair
As it tickled my nose,
In the dark hours while
I held you close.

Will you let me hold you again?
Tonight, tomorrow night, forever night.
Will you let me touch you again?
My hands, my fingers have such tiny nerves.
Can you see the way they all smile.
Upon your soft, pretty skin just like our whispers?

I took a picture
Of you this morning.
Developed and filed in my mind.
Which is why I was compelled
To leave you a smile on your pillow .

You, who are water of my rivers:
Me sinking into you as you flow or
Just a little boat smiling on your seas.
And when you open your eyes "

Navigation is but simple by your stars.

This is a great poem and is very meaningful. I love how you don't repeat the beginning of each line and always come up with a new thing to surprise your readers.

A kind and beautiful poem. I like the use of water and leaving a smile on the pillow. Thank you for a excellent poem.

From the first two lines I was transferred visually and emotionally from words on paper to a free flowing moment of love. It was a pleasure to read.
