Amongst the Sludge

Amongst the Sludge

A Poem by Chris G. Vaillancourt

under question
an open heart
progresses
from forgiving to forgiven.

you and I
sanctifying ourselves
in illuminated
ceremony.

whims and transgressions
which indiscretion
follows.

ripple onwards
in
occidental wonder.
toward the coast-land.
you and I
sheltered with
harsh puzzles.

                   and then
                   searchlights open
                   into
                   possibilities.

                                   amongst the sludge
                                    I wander in and out
                                    of attention.

The journey is not clear and the destination ongoing - wonderful writing!

Well if your mind didn't live in the gutter, you wouldn't have that problem. But if you didn't have that problem you wouldn't be able to write such perplexedly good poetry like this...!

This poem felt cleansing. I love the way you go from being "sheltered with harsh puzzles" to "searchlights open into possibilities." Its as if the author is coming to terms with the fact that all of life's challenges will inevitably be conquered. Loved it

Great use of words in this poem. I like all the statements in each set of lines. My favorite is the ending.
"amongst the sludge
I wander in and out.
of attention."
Thank you for the amazing poem.
