The fire crackled and spitted its red hot ashes at me. I stared blankly at it in return, too deep in thought to even care.  A hand touched my shoulder, bringing me back to reality. The gentle smile of my lieutenant greeted me when I turned. “Made up your mind yet?” He asked.

 

Mutely, I returned to staring at the dying flame. “What happens when a mercenary turns loyal?” I asked quietly.

 

“He becomes a soldier,” Was the answer. “So, General. Which are you? A mercenary hungry for money? Or a soldier willing to die?”

 

Still, I have no answer.
