spanish poetry

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz

if i read you
pablo neruda
with faux spanish lilts
will you smile at me
deliciously

listen to the inflections
in my voice
until we fall asleep
in a blanket
of momentos silenciosos.

if i read you
spanish poetry
will you
adóreme.

remind me of kindness
with your warm
liquid eyes.
i barely comprehend
all the parts of you
i recognize.

if i sing you
pablo neruda
to the sounds of
your guitar
are we sharing music
or poetry
or perhaps
it is
eternity.

mira...
how your silent moments
awaken such sweet
sounds
in me.

This evoca can easily melt the most intractable brick. This is surely worthy of another visit, Karabelle.

I am so delighted to have featured your work this week. I have no doubt that a plethora of authors are able to walk away with a wonderful sense of satisfaction when reading your poems. They are the brightest flowers in the garden, begging to be felt, smelt, and tenderly caressed. I love these lines:

i barely comprehend
all the parts of you
i recognize.

hmmmm... this is reads like a beautiful ballad with nothing but the sounds of a acoustic guitar as two lovers eyes meet and they know then and there where their hearts belong... a poem that took my breath away and i don't need it back ;-)

Really well written.
I loved how you tied in random yet not random spanish so it seemed like it was supposed to fit into the piece not just spanish placed there.

I have to say, this is an astonishing piece. I like the mixture of language and how you interpret it so nonbilinguals can understand your meaning. The lack of capitilization is not my cup of coffee but I admire the poem greatly. This work is fluent and heartwarming; Thank you for entering it into the Any and All Poetry Contest. You have made it into the first cut of finalists.

Que buena! Me gusta! I would love it if you would consider reading my poem "The Muse" and tell me what you think. I use several Spanish references in it as well. Similarly, there are many references de la musica...the two are so dificil for me to seperate. I adore this one Kara

Not only is it beautiful, it's seductive and hot and innocent, all together.
The pacing is perfect and the lines...
"are we sharing music
or poetry
or perhaps
it is
eternity."

Well that just says it all
Absolutely enchanting

Namaste'

I love this poem. I did something similar to this around spring time last year, when thinking of one of my favorites, Rilke. Neruda brings out that 'intimate' language that is clean and smooth.

You wrote great w/this one.
