you will continue to break

my heart.

 

in the morning (when i wake)

and in the evening

when i take off

my pretty dress.

 

-the lack of your caress-

will confuse me.

 

and dreams of you will infuse

my sleep.

 

you will continue to break

my heart

as i dream

(as i seem to move forward)

and forget.

 

you will be breaking my heart

even as i let

[you go]

 

even as life moves on

and i learn to get along

without you.

 

it seems a foolish notion

but i am very much aware

(as the wind blows through my hair)

-your breath at my neck-

 

for you still perfect

-the art-

 

of stealing,

healing,

and breaking

 

my heart.

it confounds me

smooth like blood to the heart....and the ryhme that runs throughout is only there properly on second glance, like anyone we want......would make a nice song.........................l-)

There was a Greek poet named Aeschylus who wrote:
"Even in our sleep, pain which cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, until, in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God."

Your poem says much the same thing, and eventually, that part of you that hurts and can't forget, will brig you wisdom and understanding.
